- Sandy participates in 2 series this year – Thailand Super Series and GT World Challenge Asia
- Sandy has been chosen as an official Audi Sport Asia driver and becomes the first ever Thai driver to represent the brand
- B-Quik Company Limited signs on as new official sponsor of Sandy in both Thailand Super Series and GT World Challenge Asia
The 2020 season is shaping up to be one of Sandy’s busiest, as the Thai driver confirms his participation in two series. First of all, the Thailand Super Series 2019 GT3 Champion will be back to defend his title in Thailand Super Series 2020. The championship continues its steady growth and looks to welcome more GT3 machinery this season, with new teams and drivers.
Sandy will be continuing his partnership with B-Quik Racing Team (new team name in 2020 as B-Quik Absolute Racing Team) and will team up with Australian driver Daniel Bilski. They will be gunning to win the Pro-Am category in their Audi R8 GT3 Evo.
Sandy says, “I think TSS 2020 is going to be awesome, I’ve seen some great names lining up and I can’t wait to hit the track to battle it out with some of the best drivers in Asia. It will be pleasure to drive with Daniel, and his GT3 AM Championship victory last season proves his speed and consistency.”
In addition to his Thailand Super Series pursuit, Sandy will also be returning to the GT World Challenge Asia, this time with Audi Sport Asia Team X Works’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo. Sandy will be rejoining forces with Shae Davies with whom the Thai driver shared the cockpit with in 2018. The duo’s best finish was at Suzuka in 2018 where they finished in 2nd place overall.
Sandy says, “I am elated to be back in the GT World Challenge Asia for 2020, I feel that I have learned and developed myself since the last time I raced here in 2018, and I’m relishing the challenge. It will be great to partner up with Shae again, we had a great partnership in ’18 and we have a good base to build on. I feel readier than ever to tackle this championship, and I look forward to getting to work with X-Works Racing, supported by Audi Sport customer racing Asia.
Furthermore, 2020 will see Sandy promoted into the Audi Sport Asia Talent Pool, and will be one of five Audi-supported racing drivers in Asia. Sandy says “This is truly a dream come true, it’s an honour to represent a marque with such a rich history in motorsports, and I hope to continue their legacy here in Asia. It’s been a dream of mine for years, and now I’m going to work harder than ever to make sure I make the most of this opportunity. Thank you to everyone involved that made this happen, and to my sponsors who have supported, and enabled me to reach this goal.”
Martin Kuehl (Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia) says” Sandy is an exciting, young Asian talent, who has already enjoyed success with the four rings – the perfect fit for our Audi Sport Asia driver pool. On his way to winning the 2019 Thailand Super Series GT3 title in his first year with the Audi R8 LMS he showed strong pace and race craft throughout the season. We look forward to see him continuing his development with Audi and challenging for more honours in the coming season.”
